This video highlights the plight of Sun Bears in the Borneo rain forest. Click here to make a donation and save sun bears https://www.bsbcc.org.my/donate.html The Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre (BSBCC) is in need of donations for food. It costs $225 USD per day to feed all the sun bears that are currently housed within the centre's bear enclosure. Help the centre by donating to save this amazing sun bear species. Just $5 USD will help. Click the link below. https://www.bsbcc.org.my/donate.html Sun bear cubs and baby sun bears are susceptible to malnutrition and often can't feed themselves in the wild. The BSBCC rescues, protects and treats baby and adult sun bears with the overall objective to re-introduce them into the wild whenever possible. Sun bear habitats are being destroyed and this is having a horrific effect on sun bear lifespans. Particularly older, injured bears. The effects of Humans, disease, changing environmental conditions, pollution and lack of, or poor quality food is affecting sun bear distribution across parts of Asia, Malaysia and Borneo. Let's show some bear charity and help BSBCC and "papa bear" Dr Wong Siew Te by donating money to help feed the bears and keep the centre up and running so that it can perform its wonderful work. Some fun and interesting facts about sun bears are that they are the smallest bear on the planet, standing only 150cm tall when fully grown and weighing in at around 70kg. The sun bear tongue however is very long at 20 – 25cm. This helps them get honey from bee hives, earning them the substitute name of ‘honey bear’ or ‘beruang madu’ in Malay and Indonesian. The scientific name for sun bears is: Helarctos malayanus, and they are omnivorous, meaning they'll eat all sorts of food. They can live up to 30 years but the increasing threats to sun bears from the modern world leaves them vulnerable to extinction. Please donate to save these beautiful bears.
