This is the haunted and historic Ross Bay Cemetery in Victoria, British Columbia. It opened in 1872 and is one of the most unique and beautiful Victorian Era Cemeteries I’ve seen. Through a thin layer of trees, you can see the Pacific Ocean to one side of the burial ground. I visited early in the morning and even ran into some deer. Some believe that the ghost of Isabella Ross resides here. Ross was the first woman in Victoria to own land. And that land was in fact, where the cemetery lays today. Over the years, many rumors of satanic rituals hosted here have spread, though they have mostly been discredited. And this is the gravesite of painter Emily Carr, located in Ross Bay Cemetery in Victoria, British Columbia. Emily was born in 1871 and died in 1945. Her work is largely inspired by the indigenous people of the Pacific Northwest. You can see that many visitors still leave Emily offerings, including art supplies, should she find herself in a creative mood.
