Welcome to the second episode of my winter wildlife photography series set in the stunning wilds of Jasper, Alberta. In this vlog, I take you along snow-covered tracks and forest trails as I begin my journey into one of western Canada’s most breathtaking winter landscapes. Armed with my Canon R3, Canon R7, and a selection of lenses, I set out to explore mountains, rivers, and quiet valleys in search of wildlife. Today’s adventure leads me through frozen riverbanks, towering peaks, and peaceful forest paths where every corner reveals something new. I encounter bull elk resting and feeding, taking in the silence of winter around them, and I watch American dippers diving and hunting in the icy, fast-flowing shallows of Jasper’s rivers. These small moments of nature offer a perfect look into the beauty and resilience of wildlife in winter. I also take time to reflect on the devastating impact of recent forest fires. Charred trees and transformed landscapes stand as reminders of the power of nature—but so does the incredible recovery already underway. New growth pushing through the burnt ground and wildlife returning to the area highlight how nature is fighting back, slowly reclaiming what was lost. This video invites you to slow down, relax, and soak in the peaceful sounds and sights of Jasper’s winter wilderness.
