When at 0800 hours on 10 September 1965 Pakistan forces launched an attack with a regiment of Patton tanks in the Khem Karan Sector, one man turned the entire chain of events. Havildar Abdul Hamid changed the battle of Asal Uttar in 1965. He used a jeep fitted with a recoilless gun to attack the Pakistani Patton Tanks, destroy-ing 7 tanks before being martyred.
