IFIT's Nigeria Middle Belt Brain Trust

In 2018, IFIT launched the Middle Belt Brain Trust: a group of 16 leading Nigerian experts in inter-religious dialogue, mediation, community development, justice, and security. The Brain Trust is dedicated to tackling violence in Nigeria’s Middle Belt by promoting inclusive, dialogue-driven solutions to the structural challenges that fuel conflict. A major project milestone was reached in 2024 in Nasarawa State with a successfully facilitated negotiation process between the Bassa and Egbura peoples and the corresponding return of thousands of displaced families, with the support of the UK FCDO. In parallel, IFIT has been providing strategic support to the Generation Peace Youth Camp 2025 in Plateau State, together with PEACECORE project, funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.
