After spending time walking and enjoying meals with my wife, I returned to the garden to focus on one main task: consolidating several compost stacks from the bamboo forest and pumpkin patch into what I jokingly call my “Mount Fuji” of compost piles. For hours I ferry leaves, soil, and debris by hand to the growing mound. Along the way the soil reveals signs of life—beetle larvae, worms, a millipede, and later even a green cricket. Temperatures are noticeably warmer than just days ago, remarkable considering snow fell here last weekend. The season is shifting. The work is steady. The compost mountain rises. The camera follows the entire process from morning through late afternoon until the battery gives out. After a brief recharge, I close the day from the balcony.
