In this woodturning tutorial, I’m crafting a custom White Tail Deer Call using a vibrant Padauk blank. This build features a unique internal O-ring adjustment system that allows the hunter to manipulate the reed sound by moving the ring between different grooves. We start by drilling a stepped bore, beginning with a 27/32” hole followed by a 5/8” hole through the remainder of the blank to ensure perfect airflow and reed seating. I walk you through my entire turning process, including roughing out the shape with an SS Steel cutter and finishing the profile with a carbide cutter for precision. To get that mirror-like "glass" finish Padauk is known for, I sand from 150 grit all the way to 800 grit before applying EEE-Ultra Shine and Shellawax friction polishes. In this video, you will learn: • How to drill a stepped bore for game calls. • The benefits of using SS Steel vs. Carbide cutters on the lathe. • How an internal O-ring groove system works to tune a deer reed. • My step-by-step friction polishing method for a durable, high-gloss finish. Gear & Supplies Used: • Padauk Wood Blank • 27/32” and 5/8” Drill Bits • SS Steel & Carbide Lathe Tools • EEE-Ultra Shine & Shellawax Cream • Internal Deer Call Reed & O-Ring Kit If you found this build helpful, please LIKE and SUBSCRIBE for more custom game call builds! #Woodturning #DeerCall #Padauk #CustomCalls #WhiteTail #DeerHunting #LatheWork #Woodworking #HandmadeGear
