Timna Park is an ideal combination of otherworldly geological formations and unique archaeological heritage in the southernmost desert of Israel. This video explores sites such as some of the oldest copper mines in the world, some date to the Chalcolithic period (4500-3300 BCE), later to resume activity during the New Kingdom Period of Egypt, ancient temples located in the deep desert demonstrating a fusion of ancient Egyptian and local religion which served the community of miners and rock art capturing scenes involving local wild animals such as ibexes or chariots. The locations of archaeological interest are surrounded by stunning scenery of various colors, with red sandstone often being dominant.
