Gliwice. City Guide. Gliwice is one of those cities that combine history, modernity and the atmosphere of Upper Silesia. Located in Poland, in the western part of the Upper Silesian agglomeration, Gliwice offers tourists many attractions that delight on many levels, such as architecture, sacrality or adventures in the air and on the water. Why is it worth visiting Gliwice? There are many reasons, and everyone will find something for themselves. Gliwice is a city with a rich past, which has changed national affiliation over the centuries. It was part of Piast Poland, Czech Republic, Prussia, and later Germany, before finally returning to Poland in 1945. This multicultural heritage can be seen in the architecture of the city, which we can currently see and admire The most recognizable monument of Gliwice is the Gliwice Radio Station, the Piast Castle, the Market Square and its surroundings, the Cathedral of the Apostles Peter and Paul This Upper Silesian city is open to innovation and a diverse cultural offer. I mean the City Palm House, the Gliwice Cultural Center, various museums including the Museum of Sanitary Technology. Before the war, it was Gleiwitz. Today, it is a modern, developing city that harmoniously combines history with the present. Gliwice is famous for its industry, technological innovations and environmental friendliness. Despite the industrial nature of the region, the city takes care of green areas such as Chrobry Park, Chopin Park, the Culture and Recreation Park and others. Gliwice is also a city of festivals and cultural events. It is worth coming during the Gliwice Days or the Jazz Festival, which attract residents and guests from other cities. Finally, I will add that Gliwice is a city full of contrasts, which surprises with its diversity. On the one hand, we have attractions that provide information about the city's rich history, on the other hand, modern technology that attracts young people and investors. It is an ideal place for a weekend trip, both for families with children, couples or groups of friends. Visiting Gliwice, you can feel the unique atmosphere of Upper Silesia, learn its history and, if you want, relax in one of the many parks. This is a city that leaves a mark on the heart of every visitor - it will delight with its authenticity, characteristic architecture and openness of its inhabitants. Let's not forget to taste the Gliwice croissants :-) Since I am not from Gliwice, although I have been here since I was a child from time to time, there may have been minor slips of the tongue here and I warn some that I obtained my knowledge and stories from the Internet, where the information was slightly different, e.g. about the Piast castle, fauna, hunting hotel :-) As you can see, I am normal and do not need HATE :-)
