The Howard Foundation 40th anniversary Lecture 2022 by Professor Mark Emberton: Seeing is believing – the transformation of prostate cancer management over the last decade. According to statistics presented by Cancer Research UK, prostate cancer is the most common type of cancer among men in the UK with more than 52,000 new cases per year with incidence rates increasing by almost 50% since the early 1990s and projected to keep rising by 12% to 233 cases per 1,000 males by 2035. Professor Mark Emberton, Professor of Intervention Oncology and Dean, Faculty of Medical Science at University College London, provides an insightful presentation reflecting on the transformation of prostate cancer management within the last 10 years. Dr Matthew Hobbs, Director of Research at Prostate Cancer UK, shares a few words about the work of the charity prioritising investing in treatment and testing.
