Note: The pickup used for this video is the MM42CBJD3, a 4 string pickup. The 5 string sizes/shape will sound similar, but not exact as it will use a longer magnet. Bartolini is engineering them to sound as close to each other as possible. Note #2: This pickup was recorded in both parallel and series wirings. This is something that be done with majority of Music Man style bass pickups. A player can choose to hardwire the pickup in parallel or series, or can have a switch to access both. Most commonly, the MM style of pickup is wired in parallel. Your phone or computer’s speakers are poor, they neuter bass frequencies and are a true compromise in this situation. Youtube applies compression to all videos, and this does affect the audio quality, unfortunately. Nice tight low end in both wirings. Overall the pickup sounds a bit brighter than the MM4CBC, especially in parallel, which is brighter with an ultra tight low end. The series winding has a touch of compression and a bump in the upper mids. As always, keep in mind that these are generalizations. Your experience could be different depending on many factors. ::: Talent: Andrew Dow (Bassist/Composer for the demo tracks) ::: Check his work out at the following links:IG - https://bit.ly/41m9F7w Facebook - https://bit.ly/3MWa2kU Bandcamp - https://bit.ly/3olNM9K ::: Gear ::: Bass: OLP Strings: D’Addario NYXL Tone is fully on Audio Interface: Scarlett Audio Recording Software: Logic Pro X In Logic Pro X, we used an amp modeler, the ’60s Combo’, which is intended to emulate an Ampeg B-15.
