A leaked memo from the Trump administration delivered some seriously devastating economic news for the country late last week, as it revealed that the cuts to the federal government are about to escalate dramatically. The memo includes arbitrary percentages that each government department is going to be cut by, which means we could be looking at tens, if not hundreds, of thousands of people suddenly without jobs. And that economic gut punch may be small compared to the hit we take when there’s no one to protect us, as Ring of Fire’s Farron Cousins explains. Link – https://www.commondreams.org/news/tru... A leaked memo from the Trump administration has revealed exactly how much economic devastation Donald Trump is planning to inflict upon the American people. And they're going to do it by cutting tens, if not hundreds of thousands of government jobs. Now, that shouldn't be that surprising, right? Ever since the first few days of this administration, we have seen cut after, cut after cut, budgets, people, departments, all of it, but they have barely even gotten started compared to the numbers that they have listed arbitrarily, mind you, in this leaked memo. So here are the percentages of staff reductions that are coming to the federal government. 30% reduction at the Department of Commerce, 50% at the Department of Housing and Urban Development. Gee, I wonder why they want to cut that group by half. Yeah, I'm sure racism doesn't play any role there. 25% at the Department of the Interior, 8% at the Department of Justice, 30% at the Department of Treasury, 10% at the EPA, 33% at the IRS, 43% at the Small Business Administration, and 28% at the National Science Foundation. The economy cannot handle tens of thousands of people immediately losing their jobs. And if you don't believe me, look back literally five years from this moment, like five years ago today, where were we at the very beginning of the Covid Pandemic And tens of thousands of people lost their jobs, or at least were temporarily, whatever it was. Massive recession followed, followed by massive supply chain problems, right? Folks, we went through this five years ago in Trump's last year. Now we're about to go through it again here in Trump's first year of his second term. We know how it works when suddenly tens or hundreds of thousands of people lose their jobs, especially when most of them are hyper concentrated in certain areas. You know, obviously DC is the biggest hit, but a lot of these offices are across the country. So if you have a city where suddenly 300 people overnight are jobless, that's a big hit. But that is what this administration is doing. This is economic devastation about to happen because we cannot afford, nor can we handle this many suddenly unemployed people. And that's just scratching the surface of that as well, because these aren't just arbitrary people, right? The numbers are arbitrary, right? I don't know where they came up with 'em, how they came up with 'em, but I'm assuming based on what we've seen from this administration so far, they just pulled the numbers straight outta their asses. Like, uh, 50% here, eh, 20%, 30%, right? There's no rhyme or reason to it. There's no justification because if there were, it would be, you know what? We can get rid of one and a half percent of people here because their jobs are redundant or unnecessary these days. I get that. But such high percentages that is absolutely not plausible. But these are the people who inspect our food. These are the people that do research that make new medical breakthroughs that keep us living longer. These are people that keep us healthy and safe. These are people that run Medicare, people that run Medicaid. These are people that keep toxins out of the environment so that we can eat the food that grows in the soil or drink the water or breathe the air.
