What you are seeing is the sheer quantity of war detritus and a fraction of the live ammunition recovered by French EOD specialists during an investigation of the ST19-ST21 German mining system at Vimy Ridge in 2006. It came from a 100 metre square sweep at a depth of only 18cm.
