Hello everyone and welcome back to Old Dad's Modeling Mess. In todays video I bring you the 2nd half of my "Sherman forgotten in the Jungle" diorama. The plan is to make this look like a rusty tank rotting away. This time I'm trying something different, I want to see how it looks if I use just pigments for the rust. The building of the kit went really good and some of you might have noticed already. I had started this build a long time ago and this is the kit I tested my thread weld beads on. Here's a couple pictures of those for you. The only issue I ran into was losing the footage of me building the turret but again that was done about 6 months ago soooo lol. I used the rubber band tracks that came with the kit, I hate the 3D printed Sherman tracks lol. I had a hell of a time last time I did those trying to line up the pins and holes on them. I didn't add to much detail since it's covered in rust which saved a lot of time on the build. I did the Tamiya putty armor texturing to it to give it the built up rust effect in some areas like the hatches and stuff. With the build out of the way off camera I primed and put a coat of flat barn red on it. Once that was dry I did spray a couple spots with some Olive Drab. Now it is rust time, and using my Vallejo rust pigments I grabbed 1 of my new dry brushes and went to town. I went for the darker rust colors to go along with the "it's been rusting for 70 years" look. I topped all that off with a few small areas of the lighter rust colors. . I did drop some "piles" of pigment in areas to see if it would add to the texture and make it look as if it bubbled up some but the so called "matte clear" soaked it up to much. All that was left now was to glue the tank down to the base and add the scattered leaves and then I called this build done. As always Thank You for watching my videos and if you enjoy this type of content drop a like and comment below. This lets Youtube know that people like watching this type of stuff.
