Republic Services Heil STARR System Garbage Truck on 6am Sunrise Recyclables

Greetings everyone! Happy Independence Day to my American audience! 🇺🇸 While visiting family in Salem, Oregon over my spring break in April, filming one of these nostalgic STARR trucks in my childhood neighborhood was my top priority. Heading out with my electric scooter (thanks, WM Seattle guys!) at 6am sharp on a Thursday, I quickly found this driver a few minutes before starting his route - and once I realized I'd met him a year earlier, I got the okay to follow along and document this beautiful machine in pristine early morning suburban sunlight! This video showcases in chronological order the first hour or so of this bi-weekly Thursday recycle route, including spacious roads, steep inclines, and narrow back-ins. The third clip is the collection of the very same recycle bin, a 96Gal Blue Schaefer B-Series, that I grew up with for nine years living in the yellow house briefly shown. From there, this truck and driver work their way around an expansive 3x3 block-ish area of homes. As with the entire city of Salem, a sweet assortment of classic Allied Waste, Waste Control/Capital Waste (blue B-Series), and Republic Services carts are seen - same goes for the trash and yard waste streams, the truck for the latter seen in the righthand background of one clip (Pete 520 DP Rapid Rail, Salem's new trucks phasing out these STARRs.) For me, this is the most special video I've ever filmed for this channel - because it wonderfully documents the peaceful, good 'ol neighborhood I spent my childhood in and developed my passion for garbage trucks and our environment. It all started with waving to the Republic Services guys in these STARR trucks out my window every Thursday! And 17 years later, it feels symbolic to return and create a video that I can look back on for the rest of my life. :) Special thank you goes out to Connor, the friendly driver, for being very welcoming on his route.
