What is the distance between two sets of points is a non-trivial question that has applications all over the place, from bioinformatics and computer science to fractal geometry. In this video, I'll give a bit of motivation, introduce the delta expansion of a set and then give the distance formula for sets and talk through some of the properties of Hausdorff distance too which gives us a metric on the collection of compact sets. Intro: 00:00 Motivation: 00:14 Delta Expansions of Sets: 02:24 Hausdorff Distance: 03:54 It's definitely been a while, but I am glad to be back on here as a math phd student talking about math, and honestly I am just happy to get this video up rn :D _____________________ Last PhD Update: • Math PhD Update: My 1st week of gradu...
