In this first leg of the show we meet Shinji, our handsome young shounen boy of destiny, Rei, the blank-faced QT, the adults, Misato and Gendo, and some pals for Shinji in Kensuke and Touji. We're easing into the world here, but we're already starting to see the elements that set the show apart: the deep psychological issues of our characters and their struggles to form meaningful connections... and to just VIBE, man. Its riveting, thoughtful KHANTEHNT, no doubt. It's got some great animation too, I liked the part where the robot stabbed the thing.
