This is a short video previewing the prototype of the wider designed specifically for CSM knitters. The design criteria are - 1) Must be versatile and able to adapt to almost any 6.75 inch cardboard cone. The cone you see in the beginning is the same as sold by Erlbacher. 2) Must be strong enough to wind directly from a hank on a swift. I wore out three Royal Winders trying to wind from a swift. 3) The wound cone must be even and firm. There must not be any "Yarn Barf" off the end of the cone. I have wound as much as 1000 yards of sock yarn on a single cone. 4) Must be durable to last many years of daily use. This winder is made from Oak and Steel. It uses sprockets and chain like that used on a bicycle. 5) And it must adhere to the Engineer's Creed - If you can't design something to do what you want it to do - and also not be pretty - Well, why even bother? This is my personal prototype winder. I will make an announcement later this month when the full production version is ready and will give all the ordering info. I can tell you that I have all the parts to make 24 winders so can quote a price of $350.00 Canadian Dollars (approx. $268.00 US Dollars) for a manual version. And $450.00 Canadian Dollars (approx. $ 345.00 US Dollars) for an electric version.
