Today we’re heading to Yogyakarta on a $37 Executive Class train! I’m excited for this trip because I’ve heard so much about Yogyakarta’s rich culture and can’t wait to explore the city for myself. Known as the cultural heart of Java, Yogyakarta is famous for its historical sites, vibrant art scene, and unique Javanese traditions. The journey from Jakarta to Yogyakarta covers around 500 kilometers and takes approximately 6-8 hours, giving you plenty of time to relax and enjoy the changing scenery as you leave the bustling capital behind. I booked my ticket with Kereta Api Indonesia, and the Executive Class seat cost Rp 580,000—about $37 USD. For that price, you get a spacious, reclining seat with plenty of legroom, and the overall ride is much more comfortable compared to economy class. The train itself was clean and comfortable, and they even served snacks and drinks on board, which was a nice touch. Overall, it was a pleasant ride, and if you’re willing to spend a bit more, Executive Class is worth it for the extra comfort.
