The Tagham Festival is a beautiful Wakhi tradition that celebrates the arrival of spring and the beginning of a new agricultural season. This centuries-old festival is observed by Wakhi Tajik communities across Central Asia. In Upper Hunza Gojal, the festival is celebrated in the first week of March. The Shogun clan symbolically begins the ploughing of the upcoming crops, marking the start of the farming season. On the first day of the festival, close relatives visit each other’s homes to celebrate together and pray for a prosperous year and a successful harvest.
