In this video, we are going to learn about Korean Linking Sounds that Batchim make. When any letter, or word, that is combined by ㅇ and any vowel comes right after any letter with Batchim, the consonant that is used for 받침 fills in for ㅇ position to make the sound. Like these: 물어요 [무러요] 입어요 [이버요] 한국어 [한구거] 환영 [화녕] 목요일 [모교일] 옷을 입어요 [오슬 이버요] 책을 덮어요 [채글 더퍼요] 집이 좁아요 [지비 조바요] However, 받침 consonant's original sounds do not always fill in for ㅇ to make the sound. When contend word comes behind letter, or word, with 받침, the consonant for 받침 that fills in for ㅇ makes different sound than their original sound. Do you remember seven sounds that 받침 makes when they are used as 받침, and that we learned from the last video? Those sounds fill in for ㅇ instead of original sound of consonant that is used for 받침. Like these: 꽃 위 [꼬 뒤] 겉옷 [거돋] 헛웃음 [허두슴] Lastly, when ㅎ is used for 받침 to replace the next letter, ㅎ sound is omitted, and so, the sound of the words are pronounced without ㅎ sound. Like these: 좋은 [조은] 낳아요 [나아요] 저 밭 아래에 버섯이 있어요. [저 바 다래에 버서시 이써요] 책을 좋아해서 서점에 매일 갔어요.
