Film critic Nick Duncalf reviews Australian outback drama Tracks, for @60secmovies. The true story of how Robyn Davidson trekked 1,600 miles across the Australian outback with only camels for company. Full Transcript for Tracks Movie Review Tracks is based on the best-selling memoir by Robin Davidson the young Australian woman who in the 1970s decided to trek 1600 miles across the australian outback and dessert with only a few camels for company to get to the Indian Ocean. She didn't really have a reason for doing it and what's quite interesting and I found quite satisfying about this film is that it doesn't try and get too deep into why she did it she didn't really want to achieve anything she just wanted to get away from other people. She's really brilliantly played by Mia Wasikowska who I don't even realise was actually an Australian, you'll know her from Alice in Wonderland and a few other things recently she's really great as this free spirit who has to encounter these problems, she loses a camel, she loses a dog, she loses the camels again she runs out of water. This kind of jeopardy needs to drive things forward and she's accompanied at times by a National Geographic photographer played brilliantly by Adam Driver from Girls and Francis Ha who's full of that kinda twitchy energy that he's so good at. The real star odf course is the landscape from the shimmering ocean to beautiful orange sand dunes it looks lovely and it's got a beautiful score aswell, it's a really pleasant experience.
