Residents of the disputed Azeri breakaway region of Nagorno-Karabakh, forced into shelters by shelling, said on Saturday they hoped for a ceasefire but were not ready to give up their homes. Armenia and Azerbaijan accused each other of swiftly and seriously violating the terms of a ceasefire in Nagorno-Karabakh on Saturday, raising questions about how meaningful the truce, brokered by Russia, would turn out to be. Plus, residents of the Azeri city of Barda were in an unforgiving mood following the shaky ceasefire in Nagorno-Karabakh, which started on Saturday. Locals called for Armenian forces to withdraw and one urged the Azerbaijan army to “free Nagorno-Karabakh and ruin the Armenians.” The ceasefire was agreed after a deal was struck in Moscow between Baku and Armenia to allow prisoners and the bodies of the dead to be exchanged. It was not immediately clear how long the ceasefire, which began at midday local time, would last and how effective it would be. There were reports from both sides of continued fighting in the run-up, and the two countries also alleged serious breaches after it got underway. The Moscow ceasefire talks were the first diplomatic contact between the two sides since fighting over the mountainous enclave erupted on Sept. 27, killing hundreds of people. The enclave is internationally-recognized as part of Azerbaijan, but is populated and governed by ethnic Armenians. For more info, please go to https://globalnews.ca/news/7390379/ar...
