The current treatment for this complication is cardiac resynchronisation therapy with a special type of pacemaker. However, one third of patients don't respond to treatment. This CaixaResearch project, led by Adelino Leite at the University of Porto, has developed a new device that's placed in the heart via a minimally invasive procedure, allowing long-term implantation and increasing effectiveness to restore a normal heart rhythm.
