TRN BA5 Review - The Strings

First, thank you to the Yinyoo Audio Store on Amazon for shipping this out to me so quickly. There aren't many reviews of the BA5 and I am very lucky to be one of a few sharing this with you. Of course, I record the video and forget a few things: Also reminiscent of the Blon, the timbre of instruments is very natural. I had noted Sonny Rollins Come Gone and then forgot to add it to my sheet. The sax, the cymbals, the bass, everything sounds as it should. Also a good example of the instrument imaging/layering. The sax is on the left side, everything else on the right side layered together. I didn't talk about the bass much because if you listen to music that is not bass driven or sub bass focused, you will forget that it is BA only. Daft Punk's Get Lucky is almost the boundary, it sounds great with the quantity and quality of the bass unless you are used to hearing it with the sub bass extension. The BA5 is better suited to instruments than electronics. I caught myself listening to the instruments more than the vocals in most cases. I almost named the video the Rulebreaker as it broke many of my preconceived ideas of what it would sound like when it finally arrived. Similar to the Blon, it is very engaging and fun to rediscover the genres that I haven't listened to in a while, Sonic Youth, Coldplay, bands playing actual instruments. I mention Coldplay because they often include strings or other instruments which sound even better on the BA5. I was listing to Above & Beyond's Live at the Hollywood Bowl at 2am and had to force myself to stop. That mix of a band and orchestra with the BA5 soundstage is a great combination.
