In this video we explore the colonial town of Santa Ana, El Salvador checking out the colorful streets, local markets, and colonial churches. Then we take a chicken bus out to the nearby Mayan ruins of Tazumel. Not far from El Salvadors capital is the cute town of Santa Ana. It’s a common basecamp for some epic volcano hikes, but the town itself has a colorful, antique charm with multicolored storefronts and elegant cathedrals. The town has a very local feel, as we stumbled upon a few church services, a food fundraiser, and got invited to dance with some old ladies at the bar. We even got invited to check out the rooftop of the Cathedral to get sweeping views of the city below. A quick day trip from Santa Ana takes you to El Salvadors largest heritage site, Tazumel, home to ancient mayan ruins.
