Norway attracts tourists from all over the world with its picturesque nature, cities like Stavanger that radiate peace and harmony, and, of course, iconic mountain routes such as the famous Preikestolen hike. In early June, we set off on another road trip with our Eriba Touring 530 Rockabilly caravan named CrazyTroll. This time, we decided to choose a very popular tourist destination in Western Norway. We planned to visit the city of Stavanger to walk along its streets and seafronts, and the next day, we decided to climb the Preikestolen cliff. Of course, we spent the first day on the road, since from our city to Stavanger it is about 8 hours along the E18 highway and then along the E39. The weather changed and was gloomy, but as soon as we turned onto the tourist road Jæren running along the sea, we were rewarded with the brightest sunset and a cozy evening. On the second day of our trip, we were greeted by a grey and rainy morning and this is very typical weather for the west coast of Norway. But we did not despair and put on raincoats and stopped to see the most important sandy beaches of Norway, Sola, which are also part of the Jærstrandene landscape conservation area and a favorite place for Norwegian surfers. And then the weather suddenly improved, and we went for a walk in the city of Stavanger, like the locals do! We lived here for a year and a half, at the beginning of our long journey through Norway! So we know this city quite well! We talked in detail about the colorful street Fargegaten and the oil museum (Norsk Oljemuseum,) and of course about the old city of Stavanger (Gamle Stavanger). And also went to the best observation deck of Stavanger from the hill Ullandhaug. We visited the shore of Hafrsfjord, where the main symbol of the city of Stavanger is located - Swords in the Rock! But on the shore, we were again caught by heavy rain and we returned to the campsite. On the third day, according to the forecast, there was a rare break in the rainy weather of June. We went to the opposite side of the fjord through the longest and deepest underwater car tunnel in the world - the Ryfylke Tunnel (Ryfylketunnelen). Now it connects the two banks and the cities of Stavanger and Tau. The Ryfylke Tunnel replaced the ferry service, and also reduced the travel time by as much as 25 minutes! On the other side of the fjord, the sun was also shining, and we quickly brought our caravan to the campsite. And then we went to the P1 parking lot, from where the 4-kilometer climb to the Preikestolen cliff begins. Having overcome all the stages of the trail, which we talk about in detail in the video, and even drawn a plan for the ascent. We finally found ourselves above the picturesque Lysefjord and were able to admire the iconic view, for which about 300,000 tourists a year from all over the world come here! But the weather on the west coast is treacherous, and the haze over the fjord quickly turned into a thick and wet cloud in which we walked back. On the fourth day, we went back. And stopped for a walk to the first lit lighthouse in Norway - Lindesnes! And again, the weather took pity and showed us a gap in the sky, so the shots turned out bright and especially beautiful!
