Here's a clip of my latest acquisition, a Decca Junior Model 2A 'Dulciflex' gramophone. These models, often erroneously referred to as 'trench' gramophones, use a bowl-in-lid reflector to produce the sound. The model 2A was just about the last of these designs having been introduced in 1923. This example has a small, Swiss, single-spring motor, 8" turntable and manual brake. It has been cleaned and serviced and the period-correct Crescendo Junior sound-box has been rebuilt with new gaskets. It still retains it's factory dispatch label which shows the shipping date as 19th November 1926. The record is an 8" Eclipse dating from 1932 of Australian vocalist Albert Whelan singing "It Always Starts To Rain". This recording is catalogue N°126 and I suspect that the JW445 matrix indicates Jay Wilbur's band. Please visit http://www.thegramophonecollector.com for more details of my collection.
