After a failed attempt to camp in a snow storm a few days earlier, I wanted to go back and have another round. After the storm, the weather was REALLY warm for several days and was rapidly melting all the snow. It was really warm when I hiked out there, however the temperatures plummeted at night towards 18f (-7c). And with some wind chill, we entered into the single digit temperatures. It was freezing! But I brought along a lot of super warm gear to test out just for fun. Grab a drink and some snacks, get cozy and warm on the couch, push play and come hang with me at a beautiful high-elevation lake. There I relax and try out new cold-weather gear, battle freezing temps through a windstorm overnight, and have a wonderful adventure in the outdoors. ::: FOR THE GEAR NERDS ::: I tested new gear from two different brands in this video: Wiggy's and Refrigiwear. Wiggy's is the only US brand actually producing their own sleeping bags and gear right in the US - they're based in Grand Junction. They have epic customer reviews and testimonials that go back from the 1970's to now that rave about their quality. They've been making extreme cold weather gear for the US military, and other militaries around the world for decades, as well as those that live in extremely cold environments. On Wiggy's Quality: • Wiggy's Quality Refrigiwear makes extreme-cold weather gear for those that live and work in extreme places, such as Alaska, or that work in freezers. :: WHAT I TESTED FROM EACH :: Wiggy's: Arctic sleeping bag (-60f), Mukluks, Arctic mittens, sleep socks, 13" socks, fishnet tops, fishnet bottoms. Refrigiwear: Iron Tuff Bibs, Polarforce Sweatshirt, Extreme balaclava All the gear was absolutely fantastic. Sure, it's all synthetic, bulky and heavy, but it was incredibly warm. I sat outside, not moving much, when the temps reached into the teens (f) and was still warm and cozy. Super stoked about everything. I'll get more gear from both brands. I've already bought more bags from Wiggy's in a variety of temp ranges and will use them more in the future. I'm not sponsored by anyone and paid for everything myself. I just get stoked about gear and like to share/talk about it.
