Shelly Cashman Access 365 | Modules 1-3: SAM Capstone Project B City of Silverton PROJECT STEPS The city of Silverton, Nevada, conducts fundraising campaigns for nonprofit agencies and projects in the city. As a member of the Planning Division, you use an Access database to help track the campaigns, events, donors, and donations. Create a new table in Datasheet View with the following options to store data about donors who contribute to fundraising events: Rename the default primary key ID field to DonorID and change the data type to Short Text. (Hint: DonorID should remain the primary key.) Add a new field with the name DonorFirst and the Short Text data type to store donor first names. Add a third field to the table with the name DonorLast and the Short Text data type to store donor last names. Add a fourth field to the table with the name PostalCode and the Short Text data type to indicate the donor's postal code. Save the table with the name Donors and close the table. Add data to the Donors table as follows: Use the Import Spreadsheet Wizard to import the data from the Support_AC365_CS1-3B_Donors.xlsx file and append it to the Donors table. Do not save the import steps. Open the Donors table in Datasheet View to confirm that it contains 15 records and then close the table. Create a new table in Design View with the following options to store data about city divisions and the budgets they have for charitable campaigns: Add a field with the name DivisionID and the Short Text data type. Change the field size to 5. Set DivisionID as the primary key for the table. Add a field with the name DivisionName and the Short Text data type to store department names. Add a third field with the name Budget and the Currency data type to store budget amounts. Save the table with the name Divisions and switch to Datasheet View. With the Divisions table open in Datasheet View, add the record shown in Table 1. Resize the DivisionName field to display the entire field value. Save the changes and close the Divisions table. Table 1: New Record for the Divisions Table Open the Donations table in Datasheet View and delete the record for the donation with a DonationID of 26 since that donation has been withdrawn. Switch to Design View for the Donations table and make the following changes to clarify the purpose of one field and add another: Change the name of the Pledge field using the more accurate PledgeDate as the new field name. Add a new field to the end of the table with the name PmtDate and the Date/Time data type to store the date the donation was received. Save the changes but do not close the table. With the Donations table still open in Design View, add a new field as follows to indicate each participant's status: Add a field with the name PledgeType to the end of the table. Select Lookup Wizard at the data type. Select the option to type in your own values. Type the following three values (in the order shown) as the list of possible values for the field: Matching, One-Time, and Recurring. Limit the field values to only the items in the list and do not allow multiple values for the field. Save the changes to the table and close it. Open the Events table in Design View and perform the following tasks to refine the fields in the table: Make the EventID field the primary key of the table. Change the field size of the EventID field to 5. Change the data type of the SetupCost field to Currency with 0 decimal places. Add the text Budget for setup as the description for the SetupCost field. Save the changes to the table and then close it. (Hint: Because a field size was reduced, a warning message appears asking if you want to test the data. The data is valid, so ignore this message and continue saving the table.) Open the Campaigns table in Datasheet View and make the table display more meaningful information as follows: Sort the records in ascending order by Division. Add the Total row to the datasheet and calculate the Sum for the Goal field. Resize the Goal field to its best fit to display the entire total. Save the changes to the table and close it.
