Does Jimmy Rollins Belong in the Halll of Fame

Philadelphia Phillies fans had a very special treat in the early part of the 21st Century. They got to witness the career of one of the greatest shortstops of that baseball era. Major League Baseball gave Phillies fans Jimmy Rollins, a smart and speedy infielder who redefined how to play shortstop in Philadelphia. Jimmy was a defensive gem. When he teamed up with second baseman Chase Utley, the two became an unstoppable double-play duo. Jimmy challenged the league publicly in 2007, claiming Philadelphia was the team to beat in the East. The result? Not only did the Phillies beat the Mets at the end of the season for the division title, but Jimmy became the National League Most Valuable Player. His offensive peak continued into 2008. Jimmy Rollins became Hall of Fame eligible in 2021. Although his vote count was low, it was enough to reach the 5% benchmark, and allow him to continue to compete for Hall of Fame induction as the years progress. Will the voters eventually realize the value of the intangibles Jimmy brought to his team and his position?
