A short documentary chronicling the story of Carl Eliason, a key contributor to the invention of the modern snowmobile as told by his granddaughter, Jona Eliason. Film and music by Nate Sheppard. NOTE: As there has been some dispute on who could be considered the inventor of the snowmobile, I thought I’d provide a bit more context. While Joseph-Armand Bombardier is a much more well-known name for his tremendous contributions to the advancement of the snowmobile, Carl Eliason’s work preceded Bombardier’s by a few years and his patent likewise precedes Bombardier’s by a decade. Both men are to be acknowledged as key contributors to the invention of what we know today as snowmobiles and there are many others who were doing similar work at the time.
