On September 30, 2023; Inchcape Philippines (local distributor of Changan) introduced the all-new 2024 Changan X7 Plus to the Philippine market in Bonifacio Global City in Taguig City. After that, they held a week-long (Oct 1-7) car display and offered the opportunities to test drive some of their products too! One of the vehicles available for test drive was this 2024 UNI-T. Changan UNI-T Engine: 1.5-liter turbocharged inline-4 [gasoline] - Changan Blue Core TGDi 177HP; 300NM Transmission and Drivetrain: 7-speed wet-type dual clutch transmission | FWD Price as tested: Php 1,679,000 Impressions/observations during the test drive: The Changan Uni-T's exterior design looks really modern and high-end w/ its use of sharp lines and thin LED lights. It also has a bit of a sporty look especially at the rear, with its quad exhausts. Its design is more unique than the Uni-K's though. Another comparison with the Uni-K, is regards the overall exterior design. The Uni-T looks more compact and sportier since it's smaller overall, and the shape is generally lower in terms of its height. The roofline of the Uni-T also has less angle in terms of its overall line. The door handles that go into the door when the car is locked gives the side profile a clean look. Moving over into the inside, one would notice the high quality materials used in the various surfaces. The car seats inside are all very comfortable and are clothed in high quality leather. In addition to this, the interior has some large storage spaces, like the one under the center console, which can literally fit a DSLR camera. The turbocharged engine of this vehicle really makes good power to propel this car forward. It is very responsive, especially in sport mode; while in normal and eco mode, it provides for a smooth driving experience. Power is sent to the front wheels via a 7-speed dual clutch. The transmission responds well enough when a downshift is needed, and shifts smoothly enough. In contrast to the Uni-K, the Uni-T has no manual mode at all which does not diminish its driving experience that much. Both of its gas and brake pedals respond well enough to the driver's inputs. When turning, one would feel that this car's steering is nicely weighted in sport mode, which is the best mode for the steering assist because it provides for the most feel. The other two modes may be used if one would prefer a lighter feel. The suspension & chassis provide for a comfortable ride even over uneven surfaces, as well as good stability when driving enthusiastically. Overall though, the UNI-K feels wider than the UNI-T (because it is), which might make some prefer this car. This could mean that the UNI-T would be easier to maneuver around tight spaces.
