#UofTLawOnline: Professor Kent Roach is the Prichard Wilson Chair in Law and Public Policy at the University of Toronto's Faculty of Law, and served on the Council of Canadian Academies expert panel on policing in Indigenous communities. In this webinar, Professor Roach will examine recent incidents in Canadian policing and explore their relation to systemic discrimination of Indigenous people and racialized groups. It will examine the governance challenge of the police, with particular attention to the RCMP, and suggest that the force suffers from both democratic and accountability deficits. Co-authored Globe and Mail op-ed: RCMP cannot continue front-line policing if it isn't responsive to the communities it serves: https://www.theglobeandmail.com/opini... Ian Scott, former Director of Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit, will join Professor Roach to moderate the Q&A.
