Radical 1100 Clubsport Hillclimb MAX ATTACK | Marco Ulivi | Coppa del Chianti Classico 2021

Here's a video about my friend Marco Ulivi in action on the fast Italian hillclimb course of the Coppa del Chianti race, which is located in Tuscany not far from the city of Siena. The race is valid for the Campionato Italiano di Velocità in Salita per Auto Storiche (Italian Hillclimb Championship for Historic Cars) but during these new 'modern' editions the organizers also allow a small group of more recent race cars to attack the hillclimb course but without affecting the historic championship standings, like the Radical in this video. I wasn't physically present at the race edition but Marco was very kind to provide me the footage from his GoPro Max, recording in 'Hero mode', meaning it was just like a typical GoPro and not a 360 camera. I've already told Marco about why the image looks kinda distorted and blurred, especially at the very beginning of the video, when the car is still static on the starting line. The Max have some extra protective lenses made out of a terrible plastic which is easily scratchable by simply cleaning them with a cloth. Luckily when the car is in movement the issue seems to decrease. Anyway enjoy watching Marco attacking the fast course with a final time of 3'34''29 which earned him the first place among the modern cars and the 3rd overall best time of the event! Painted to recall the JPS colours, this particular Radical is a 1100 Clubsport that was upgraded with the aero kit coming from the Radical Prosport model, such as rear wing, diffuser and front flaps. The Radical 1100 Clubsport was the company's first car, built from 1997 to 1999. It was a small open-cockpit chassis powered by Kawasaki ZZR1100 engine, featuring a max power of 145hp (120hp at rear wheels), for a total weight of around 420kg. It was mostly raced in the UK in a one-make series based around the car.
