Heretic (2024) Movie Recap Review and Explained In the beginning of the movie, we meet two young members of the Church, Sister Barnes and Sister Paxton. They are spreading the word about their religion but do not find much success and are mocked on their journey. However, they don't give up and continue on their way. They lock up their bikes, and it starts to rain, so they look at a list that guides them to Mister Reed. They meet him and ask if he would like to learn something about the church, offering him a booklet. But the whole time it is raining as they stand outside, and Reed draws their attention by inviting them to come inside. They can only enter if a woman is present, and he claims his wife is there. They go inside, take off their coats, and he mentions that his wife is making a pie while he goes to fetch drinks, which he soon brings as he starts talking about religion. At this point, he shows them a book about the Mormons, which surprises them as he seems to know more than they do. At that moment, they smell the pie, and Reed asks them to guess what kind it is. Paxton guesses that it is blueberry pie. Reed then asks Barnes how her father died, jokingly implying it might be from "blueberry disease," which is incorrect and makes the situation uncomfortable.
