NATURAL PAINTS FOR SUSTAINABLE ART AND CRAFTS Erasmus+ Programme Cooperation Partnerships project. grant agreement Nr. 2024-1-LV01-KA220-VET-000252528 The partnership of seven schools will conduct regional studies to explore the traditions and opportunities of using plant-based dyes and paints. To help students understand how natural paints can be applied in art and design, as well as their potential for commercial use, the partners will organize training events and establish experimental school gardens. The findings from this innovative project will be published on a new online platform called Plant&Paint. As part of this initiative, a film has been produced within the Erasmus+ KA2 project “Natural Colours for Sustainable Art and Crafts” (Plant&Paint), No. 2024-1-LV01-KA220-VET-000252528. The week-long Plant and Paint program in Bergamo, Italy, was dedicated to exploring natural pigments and their potential in art and design. After arriving in Bergamo on Sunday, September 28, 2025, the course began the following day with a warm welcome, ice-breaking activities, and team presentations. On Monday, workshops focused on creating natural crayons and watercolors. Tuesday was devoted to experimenting with plant-based dyes in the kitchen, all set against the stunning backdrop of the Alpine foothills at the Don Bosco mountain lodge. On Wednesday, participants painted in the open air of Bergamo’s Upper Town, using the watercolors they had produced themselves. Thursday brought a visit to the historic Astino Monastery, where the group explored natural dyeing techniques with plants from its botanical garden. On Friday, the program concluded with presentations of the week’s results, a walk through the protected workshop garden “Under the Wall”, and a festive farewell dinner. The entire week was filled with colorful inspiration, artistic exploration, and the joy of building new friendships.
