Hallway of Dreams Kingfisher Sky live @ The Underground Lelystad May 10th 2008. Maaike Peterse on Violoncello playing live with Kingfisher Sky KINGFISHER SKY are the headliners of tonight. Their debut album was very well received and it slowly put them in the premier ranks of the Dutch gothic metal scene. And they lived up to that expectation. Its a shame, that they have to play for an almost empty hall, because only fifty or sixty people showed up. The band opens with The Craving. Besides Ivar de Graaf (formerly Within Temptation drummer), Daan Janzing and Edo van der Kolk (both on guitar), George van Olffen (keyboards), Eric Hoogendoorn (bass) and singer Judith Rijnveld, the band also introduces a special guest female cello player Maaike Peterse who plays a big part of the set and not without merit! Maaike Peterse is a great eye-catcher and she gives the sound of Kingfisher Sky a very positive boost. However, the other bandmembers are also working very hard to reach the highest possible level. During the instrumental part, bassplayer Eric bangs his head like a madman. Its a very energetic sight for all the fans. Most of tonights songs were taken from their album Hallway Of Dreams, like The Craving, Big Fish, Balance Of Power and title track Hallway Of Dreams. What caught my attention most though was a song, called The Attic. It really came alive thanks to the great vocal parts of singer Judith Rijnveld. I do hope, this song will be on the next album of KINGFISHER SKY. The next song is a nice surprise: Hadassa of theNAME joins KINGFISHER SKY on stage for an encore and together with Judith both ladies share the vocals on The Craving. This surprise appearance shows that both bands are good colleagues and theres no rivalry whatsoever. They join forces and together they stand strong! Three very talented female-fronted bands, who deserve a much bigger audience than the few people that showed up today. Shame on you for staying at home or going to the beach, instead of supporting these great bands! However, the bands didnt seem to care and gave a full 100% tonight and thats what counts!
