MWNUK CEO Baroness Gohir spoke in the House of Lords to highlight an issue that is often overlooked which is recording, sharing and threatening to share sexually explicit audio recordings - this has come up on the Muslim Women’s Network Helpline. She is asked for the law to be amended to address this. She spoke on 13 Dec 2024 during the second reading of Baroness Owen’s private members Bill on Non Consensual Sexually Explocity Images and Videos Offences Bill. The government responded positively to say it will consider an offences related to sexually explicit audio abuse. Baroness Gohir spoke again on 18th Dec on the same issue during the Committee Stage of the Data Bill.
