Also known as Kybele or Kybebe, Cybele is an ancient Neolithic Goddess, who was the Great Mother & fertility Goddess of Anatolia. Her cult was originally centered around Pessinus in Phrygia, where she may have originally been a Mountain or earth goddess, as well as The Mother. The Ancient Romans assimilated her, and on advice of the Sybilline Oracles her cult statue and priests were brought to Rome, where a temple was created on Palatine Hill. To the Romans, she was known as Magna Mater 'Great Mother' and was one of Romen's primary mystery cults. She was known for her motherly ferocity and governed wild animals and land, as well as birth, nobility, healing and music.
