Meet Matty, a long descendant of Moray residents since the 1150s and a true wild Scotsman. The lives of people in the coastal towns and villages of Scotland have always been dominated by the North Sea, but with an increasingly uncertain future for many of those industries, Matty changed his family’s trajectory. These films are produced by Land Talk, drawn from Land Talk Conversations with observers. From cities to farmlands, rivers to bayous, and beaches to mountains, the world around us is constantly changing. Land Talk is an environmental history project that documents long-term landscape change through the observations of local people. Its goal is to provide an opportunity for dialogue between generations, and a chance to learn from observers about changes they have seen. Directed by Laura Mahler
