There is usually a huge build-up before the first time you have sexual intercourse like some myths, misconceptions, anxiety and anticipation. The two important facts that you should be aware of before your first intercourse is sexually transmitted infection and pregnancy. Firstly, to protect yourself from any kind of infection it becomes important for both the partners to maintain a hygiene level, and use protective barriers like condoms, you should avoid sexual intercourse in case you harbour infections like urinary tract or fungal. Secondly, to prevent themselves from getting pregnant, females need to be aware of their ovulation period which happens in the middle of their menstrual cycle which is around the 14th, 15th or 16th day and they should avoid having intercourse during this period. It is important to meet your gynaecologists and discuss the various birth controlling measures like pills, injections, barrier methods or implants before getting sexually active. There are also emergency contraceptive pills available that should be consumed by the females within 72 hours of unprotected intercourse. Some people are worried about the pain and difficulty before the intercourse which is mainly because of you being tensed or anxious which leads to less lubrication, so it becomes necessary to be comfortable and more aware of your and your partner’s body.
