In Nawabganj Upazila of Dinajpur District, women are rewriting their stories. Not long ago, many faced poverty, early marriage, dowry, and other social challenges. Today, through the Sustainable Livelihoods development of extreme poor communities (SUPPORT) Project, women-led Self-Help Groups are creating real change from within their communities. They’re building savings, starting small businesses with cash grants, and learning about child marriage, gender-based violence, and child protection—and they’re putting that knowledge into action. These women aren’t just improving their own lives. They’re inspiring their neighbors, protecting children, and showing that lasting change is strongest when it starts within the community. Through this 36-month initiative empowers ethnic minority and ultra-poor households in Dinajpur to overcome extreme poverty and food insecurity. The project builds long-term economic sustainability by securing rights, providing livelihoods, and reducing the daily hardships faced by marginalized families. Through dedicated support in the Nawabgonj sub-district, Islamic Relief Bangladesh is creating a future where vulnerable communities can thrive with dignity and resilience.
