The journey begins in the pouring rain, leading to an impromptu decision to take the beautiful, historical Natchez Trace Parkway to bypass the bad weather in Alabama. We share the scenic views of the Tennessee River and even stop to explore the ancient Parr Mounds site, only to hit a massive, unexpected roadblock that forces us onto the interstate for a stressful 2 hour-long standstill outside Shreveport, Louisiana. We were stuck on I-20 near Shreveport, stopped at 2:43 PM and didn't move until over two hours later! After finally making it to our overnight Cracker Barrel stop and getting some much-needed rest, we continue the journey. Once in Waco, a huge crowd at the famous Magnolia Table sends us across the street to discover the Texas icon, Rudy's Country Store and Bar-B-Q. You'll get our honest review—the smoked turkey and legendary creamed corn were phenomenal! The adventure culminates in a warm, festive reunion in Klein, Texas, where the excitement is palpable and the Christmas baking is in full swing.
