The Children of Victoria, Princess Royal and German Empress

Victoria, Princess Royal and German Empress was the wife of Frederick III, German Emperor. Their marriage in 1858 resulted in the births of eight children, six of whom survived to adulthood: Wilhelm II, German Emperor, Charlotte, Duchess of Saxe-Meiningen, Prince Henry of Prussia, Prince Sigismund of Prussia, Princess Viktoria of Prussia, Prince Waldemar of Prussia, Sophia, Queen of the Hellenes, and Margaret, Landgravine of Hesse. Victoria was briefly German Empress from March 1888 to June 1888, when her husband died in June 1888. Following this, their conservative son, Wilhelm, ascended the throne, and led Germany during the First World War. Eventually, the monarchy was abolished in 1918, many years after Victoria's death in 1901.
