BYD Dolphin Surf 2025: Quick Review (Affordable EV starting at 19,490 €) Check out the new 2025 BYD Dolphin Surf. There are a few small EV city hatchbacks, but this one is probably the best equipped and most competitive, with a starting price just under 20K€ in Europe. In Europe, customers can choose between three trims: Active, Boost, and Comforta, and four colors: lime green, Polar Night black, Apricity white, and Ice blue. BYD Dolphin Surf has a FWD and comes in two battery sizes: a 30 and 43,2 kWh battery supporting 11 kW AC charging, V2L up to 3.3 kW, and fast charging of 65 or 85 kW for a bigger battery, charging 10 to 80% in 30 min, 30-80% in just 22 min. The base Active trim comes with a 65 kW electric motor delivering 88 HP, packed with a 30 kWh BYD Blade LFP battery offering 220 km of range. The Boost has the same 65 kW el. motor packed with a larger 43,2 kWh battery offering 322 km of range, while the Comfort top trim has exclusive 115 kW el. motor delivering 156 HP with a larger battery offering 310 km of range combined in city up to 507 km (WLTP). Customers can expect around 430 km of realistic city driving and around 350 km on the highway. After a first drive, I can say the new Dolphin Surf is a really agile little EV with 156 HP. It has a nice kick and a very comfortable suspension. It is worth mentioning that the BYD Dolphin Surf is sold in China under a different name: the BYD Seagull, which has already received a Facelift.
