"The Blue Book | Amitava Kumar in conversation with Ravish Kumar speech on Blue book | Jaipur Literature Festival 2022 While talking about journalist and author Amitava Kumar’s engrossing work ‘The Blue Book’, journalist, author and media personality, Ravish Kumar, noted that this fascinating book carries within it a myriad of references - there are many mentions of writers, thinkers and their iconic works and in this way, Ravish Kumar quipped that what the author has revealed is not the technique of writing but the formula of reading! While in conversation at the Jaipur Literature Festival 2022, Amitava Kumar added that one of his daily practices includes ‘morning pages’ - an exercise during which he expresses what he has in his heart and his mind through writing. These pages have become a medium through which the author phrases his most innermost emotions, preoccupations, obsessions and concerns. Amitava Kumar is the author of several books of nonfiction and three novels. His latest title is a collection of drawings and diary entries, The Blue Book: A Writer's Journal. Kumar's work has appeared in Granta, The New York Times, Harper’s, and several other publications. He has been awarded a Guggenheim fellowship and residencies from Yaddo, MacDowell, and the Lannan Foundation. His novel Immigrant, Montana was on the best of the year lists at The New Yorker, The New York Times, and President Obama’s list of favourite books of 2018. His new novel is A Time Outside This Time. Ravish Kumar is an Indian journalist, author and media personality. He is the author of two published works, The Free Voice in English and Ishq Mein Sheher Hona in Hindi. The Free Voice has been translated into Hindi, Marathi, Kannada and Nepali. Kumar was awarded the Ramon Magsaysay Award for 'giving voice to the voiceless'."
