Hello friends! I look forward to seeing all of you at Annual Conference this year. It's going to be an incredible gathering where we come together as a community to celebrate our shared ministry and faith as well as plan for the future. As we prepare for Annual Conference, I wanted to highlight a few things for the Laity: First, please keep Annual Conference in your prayers. Let the Holy Spirit’s presence be felt by everyone and let it guide our discussions and decisions. Second, please come to the Laity Session prepared to elect 10 Lay Delegates to the Jurisdictional Conference. The Laity Session will start promptly at 8:00 a.m. on Monday June 10th at the Marriott Westchase, Grand Ballroom. Remember, 8:00 a.m. at the Marriott Westchase. To prepare for the election of Lay Delegates, please prayerfully review the candidate profiles that can be found online. We give thanks for all of those that have put their name forward to serve our Church in this manner. In addition to the election of delegates to Jurisdictional Conference, we will have a panel discussion on the decisions, implications and observations of General Conference which would have closed its proceedings just weeks before our gathering. The panel will consist of Bishop Harvey and several delegates to General Conference. We will include a question-and-answer period as well. The third thing I’d like to bring to your attention is the Laity Luncheon. The Laity Luncheon will also be on Monday June 10th at the Marriott Westchase, Grand Ballroom. The Luncheon will start at noon. We have a very special guest speaker lined up for you: Rev. Dr. Paul Chilcote. As you may recall, Dr. Chilcote’s most recent book is entitled: Multiplying Love...A Vision of United Methodist Life Together. His wisdom and insight are sure to inspire and uplift us all. This is an event you won’t want to miss! Tickets for the Laity Luncheon are just $25 each, but hurry, because registration for the Luncheon closes on May 30th.
