Building My Backyard Hobby Machine Shop

This video documents the several year process I went through building my 10' X 18' hobby machine shop. I originally got started by building a metal melting furnace for scrap aluminum. You know how it goes, I figured I needed a lathe, which led to a mill and tooling for both and then teaching myself how use both from books, the internet, and youtube. This continues to be an ongoing process. This building was originally was going to be a shop for my motorcycle hobby, but the metal working hobby sort of took over and most of the bikes got sold. The only way I could afford to do this was to do all the work myself so the only farmed out work was the pouring of the cement pad. Like most everything else, the enjoyment comes from figuring out how to do something and then doing the work yourself - it makes the results much more satisfying!
