I'd like to thank Shane Schwartz for allowing me to extensively use the footage he captured with his GoPro in this video. It certainly adds an interesting perspective and a welcomed change of pace. The GoPro was attached to the hotshoe mount on his DSLR. This video documents the second day of a two-day traction transfer to bring Class 24, Number 3655 back to Ceres for use at Atlantic Rail in Cape Town. Used by Atlantic Rail and the Epping Market Choo Choo for a good number of years. The locomotive was in need of an overhaul and was taken to Voorbaai locomotive depot earlier that year where necessary maintenance was completed. Shane and I didn't chase the train on the first leg of its journey from Voorbaai to Swellendam. Instead, we opted to leave Worcester early on the second day and intercept the train before departing Swellendam for the final leg of the journey. The train and its crew had spent the night at Swellendam and were just finishing their breakfast when we arrived. The coach and caboose seen behind the locomotives are a mobile workshop and sleeping quarters that were left at the Diesel Depot in Worcester. In the following months, the Voorbaai Fitters would be working on the Red Devil at Worcester as the locomotive was too large to be moved to Voorbaai.
